FOAMTRONIC® ELECTRONIC FOAM MIXING SYSTEM
FoamTronic® is an electronic foam/water mixing system, which precisely adds foam concentrate to the water in the fire extinguishing network, calculating in real time the amount required to maintain the correct mixing ratio, based on the fluctuating flow and pressure of the network.
This is achieved by using electromagnetic flowmeters that continuously monitor the flow of the firefighting water, analysing the data and adjusting the opening of the foam concentrate injection valve directly. The accuracy and stability of the system is based on the combination of specially selected components and a unique state-of-the-art control system developed specifically for FoamTronic®. Furthermore, the control system records all data during operation and testing of the system, which is accessible via a user-friendly software.
A unique feature of the FoamTronic® system is that it does not create a pressure drop in the water supply to the fire extinguishing systems.
One or more FoamTronic® systems can be installed near a central foam storage tank.
TESTING
ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY
The FoamTronic® test procedure ensures the successful operation of the system. During this test (Test Mode) the firefighting foam injection point in the supply system is isolated and the foam supply is diverted in another direction to be collected and re-stored. At the same time, however, the water flow starts and the FoamTronic® system begins to control the mixing ratio. A complete operational test of the FoamTronic® system is therefore achieved without the consumption of foam concentrate and without the generation of foam solution. The complete test procedure is economical and environmentally friendly without the need for any cleaning.
Even during the test procedure, the control system records all data during operation and testing of the system, which is accessible via a user-friendly software.
The prefabricated systems available are designed to suit most applications, and there is the option of custom fabrication as required by the project.
EXACT PROPORTIONS OF ADMIXTURE
Thanks to the innovative technology of the FoamTronic® system, which combines modern measuring instruments and a special flow control valve, it is possible to achieve a very precise mixing ratio. Furthermore, the system is able to generate two different mixing ratios depending on the activation command received by the system. The required mixing ratios can be set using the user interface, on the touch screen.
FOAMTRONIC® PROTECTIVE CASING
FoamTronic® is designed for installation in harsh environments. The protective housing is made of stainless steel and powder coated to ensure maximum protection against corrosion. The complete assembly has been pre-assembled using high quality, fully factory tested components. Options such as heating and cabin insulation are available.
FULL SELF-DIAGNOSTIC CHECK
Each individual electronic component of the FoamTronic® system performs a self-diagnostic check on a daily basis which includes a performance test of the FoamTronic® flow control valve. In the event of a malfunction, the user is immediately informed even of any leaks. The system operates on 24VDC voltage and has a redundancy.
USER WORKING ENVIRONMENT
A user touch screen is integrated in the front of the control panel. This easy-to-use interface allows the user to supervise self-diagnostic checks and change system parameters. All data during FoamTronic® operation and control procedures are recorded, stored and available to the user. A password lock can be added to the system.
SCOPE OF APPLICATION OF THE SYSTEM
FoamTronic® and the components selected are adapted to suit the requirements of the project, always ensuring optimum operation. The sizing and model of the FoamTronic® depends on the variations in pressure and quantity of water passing through the control valve during system operation. FoamTronic® can be adapted to suit each application. Technical examples can be found in the table below and relate to firefighting foam admixture ratios of 1% and 3%. The FoamTronic® system up to model DN50 fits into a standard sized cabin. Larger sizes are available and manufactured to order.
