Firefighting foam is primarily used to extinguish flammable liquid fires. By adding air to the liquid mixture of water and concentrated firefighting foam, a stable foam is created, covering the discharge. Flammable vapors cannot escape from the liquid and the formation of a combinatory mixture with air is disturbed.
