    THERMAL LOCATION OF BURIED PEOPLE

The TIC device is a thermal imaging victim location camera (also called 'optical instrument') designed to locate the heat signature of a living victim trapped in a confined space of a collapsed building. The TIC (thermal imaging camera) head gives valuable aid to SAR teams as it uses an infrared sensor to detect and display the hottest points in a confined space.

It dramatically speeds up the location of a victim by detecting their body heat. Unlike IR LED technology that illuminates a target area using infrared light (such as a torch) LEADER uses an infrared sensor to detect the heat from objects between 0°C and 120°C. A victim will therefore be visible even if covered with dust or a blanket or even behind foliage. In this way, the USAR team knows where to search and then use a conventional colour camera for a more accurate search if necessary.

THERMAL IMAGING CAMERA HEAD SPECIFICALLY DEVELOPED FOR HOSTILE ENVIRONMENTS

The thermal imaging camera (TIC) head can be swivelled through 226° to identify victims in confined spaces rapidly and efficiently. Thermal, it detects heat signatures between 0°C and 120°C using a sensor with resolution of 160 x 120 pixels.

Fitted with an integrated communication system (microphone/loudspeaker), the TIC victim location camera can communicate with the buried person to assess their condition. The camera lens is protected by a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal glass. In addition, the camera is completely covered by a flexible membrane to cushion impacts and protect the swivel joint. Once fitted with its plug, the camera head is waterproof to a depth of 2 metres for searches in damp environments or underwater.

ULTRALIGHT TELESCOPIC POLE OR 25 M AND 90 M CABLES

The camera head is detachable and, depending on operational requirements, it is connected using:

    • a 3.7 m telescopic pole (to inspect confined spaces up high)
    • a 25 m cable,
    • a 90 m extension lead stored on a reel,
    • two 90 m extension leads wound onto reels giving a total length of 180 m (to inspect wells, caves and crevices, etc.).

Made of carbon fibre, the telescopic pole is ultra-lightweight, for great manoeuvrability in the field! The pole is made of carbon fibre for optimum weight/strength ratio (1.7 kg without camera). 3.7 m extended/1.2 m retracted. For faster searches, it is possible to detach the control box from the pole to enable two rescuers to handle the equipment (one stays focused on the screen, the other handles the pole).

Using a pole or extension lead, the TIC can be connected to MULTI-APP control boxes (LEADER MULTISEARCH, CAM MS, SEARCH MS, HASTY MS and SCAN MS devices).

NAVIGATION INTERFACE SPECIALLY DESIGNED FOR THERMAL VISION

Each item has been designed to make rescuers' work easier:

    • Compact and lightweight control box,
    • Extra-wide colour screen,
    • User-friendly graphic interface,
    • Intuitive and discreet menu to display the image over the whole screen,
    • Digital x2 zoom,
    • Screen rotation of the image top (0°), bottom (180°),
    • Display of degree of rotation of the camera head,
    • Display of thermal imaging modes,
    • Takes photos,
    • Records videos,
    • Photo gallery, etc.

The TIC device is a thermal imaging search camera head with communication system developed with victim location specialists.

The TIC head is a Thermal Imaging search Camera used during search and location operations to detect hotspots. It speeds up the process to locate victims using the warmth of their bodies.
The device allows you to see and communicate with the victims trapped in inaccessible areas up high or in confined, hard-to-reach spaces. It helps to ascertain their need for assistance and rescue.

Uses: Reconnaissance, dark confined spaces, dusty environments, smoke-filled areas, etc.

It meets operational requirements since many international expert search and rescue teams (INSARAG, Civilian Security, FEMA Task Force, USAR teams, UKSAR, SAR, NGOs, etc.) use LEADER search equipment.

    Benefits:

Can only be connected to the MULTI-APP control box (up to 5 devices connected alternately)
